2022 Farewell to our beloved "gua-gua"?
When management excuses threaten the mobility of our elderly residents
When management excuses threaten the mobility of our elderly residents
We have received widespread frustration from many residents regarding an absence that no longer goes unnoticed: our iconic internal transport service, our beloved "gua-gua", has stopped running. This train, which has traversed the campsite almost since its inception, has always been much more than an attraction; it is the absolute lifeline of mobility within the complex, an essential tool that eases daily life and guarantees independence, especially for our elderly residents and those with reduced mobility.

Following continuous complaints over its stoppage, we contacted management to demand an explanation, and the response we received only sets off all our alarm bells. According to the administration, the service was abruptly suspended following a formal request from a property owner who demanded the vehicle's official documentation and permits. Upon checking the paperwork, Pandora's box was opened: neither the tractor unit nor the carriages supposedly possess the approval certificates or statutory technical inspections required for passenger transport.
Fearing potential penalties, the Administrator chose the easiest way out: immediately suspending the service instead of taking responsibility. Whenever our Association demands urgent solutions and its reinstatement, management's response is always the same: they hide behind claims that "there is no budget" or that there are insurmountable technical hurdles to upgrading the carriages.
How can a complex of this size maintain such level of neglect regarding such a vital service? It is hard to accept the excuse of a lack of funds when it comes to guaranteeing accessibility and well-being for the very people who sustain this campsite through their fees. Hiding behind compliance now — after years of turning a blind eye to the maintenance and oversight of shared resources — demonstrates an absolute lack of foresight and sensitivity.
We cannot allow the mobility and comfort of our elderly residents to be sacrificed in this manner due to the inefficiency of a management team that prefers to eliminate what works rather than seek real solutions. We will remain vigilant and continue demanding what rightfully belongs to the community.
